Just another short message from me. I did not get bored the last period. Unfortunatly I had so much to do that there was almost no time left to blog. I have been into yarn bowls lately

Yarn bowls... Dat zijn dus kommetjes, waar je je garen in kan doen, met een speciale uitsparing zodat je de draad onderlangs kan laten lopen en je bolletje dus netjes in zijn kommetje blijft. Ideaaaaaaaal die dingen. Met het lekkere weer van de zomer was het heerlijk om buiten te zitten, maar ja als je bolletje alle kanten op rolt word deze heel vies dusssssss... Maar even gekeken op mijn favoriete pagina Etsy.
Yarn bowls... Those are little bowls to put your yarn in, with a special swirl or hole at the lower half of the bowl to put the yarn through. The trick is that when you do this the ball of yarn will stay in its bowl. Those things ar ideaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal . With the nice weather this summer it was great to go and sit outside, but if your yarn rolls all over the place it will get dirty. So I checked my favorite page... www.etsy.com
Er zijn verschillende aanbieders van Yarn bowls, maar 1 ervan stak er voor mij duidelijk bovenuit. Mooie kommen, of in ieder geval wat ik mooi vind en vooral ook tegen een prijs die ik nog acceptabel vind. Natuurlijk kun je hele dure kommen kopen, maar persoonlijk vind ik dat wat overdreven. There are more people on Etsy who offer Yarn bowls, but one of them clearly stood out from the rest. Gorgeous bowls (or at least what I find gorgeous) at a price that is very reasonable. Ofcourse there are really expensive bowls, but to me that is a bit over the top. If it works...
Ik ben op die manier in contact gekomen met Khang Chia Huie. Hij maakt allerlei mooie vasen en potten van Raku pottery. Wat dat precies inhoud kun je beter even zelf googelen, maar het komt er op neer dat het aardewerk met een speciaal glazuur word gecoat, en dan vervolgens roodgloeiend word opgestookt. Door het daarna gecontroleerd en over het algemeen vrij langzaam te laten koelen word het aardewerk tot een uniek kunststuk gemaakt.
Through Etsy I came into contact with Khang Chia Huie. He makes all kinds of vases and utensil holder of Raku pottery. To learn what raku Pottery is, I would suggest to google it, but long story short, the pottery is coated with a special kind of glase, then fired till it is red hot and then it is cooled in a controlled and usually a slow way to make an unique peace of art.
Ik wilde graag een uniek stuk wat specifiek voor mij gemaakt is en waar symbolen in staan die voor mij betekenis hebben. Ik heb daarom de eigenaar van de shop gemaild en na heel wat heen en weer gemail heeft hij echt prachtig werk geleverd.
I had really set my mind to a piece that was specifically made for me, that contained symbols that have meaning to me. This is why I emailed the owner of the shop and after some mailing back and forth he delivered a stunning peace of art
Zo goed werk dat mijn moeder hoopte dat ik de al bestelde yarn bowl misschien wel aan haar cadeau zou willen doen. Echt niet dus, ben veel te trots op deze kommen. In plaats daarvan heb ik toch nog maar een keertje gemaild om ook een mooie kom voor haar te bestellen.
Actually the work was so good that my mother had hoped that I would give her the previously ordered yarn bowl as a present for her birthday. Yeah right, no way I am going to do that, I am way to proud of these bowls. Instead I have contacted him again to order such a beautiful bowl for her. I really hope she likes it
